ওয়াইম্যাক্স কোন ধরনের নেটওয়ার্ক

এটি দ্রুতগতির একটি যোগাযোগ প্রযুক্তি যেটি প্রচলিত DSL (Digital Subscriber Line) এবং তারযুক্ত ইন্টারনেটের পরিবর্তে ওয়্যারলেস ইন্টারনেট সুবিধা দিয়ে থাকে। Worldwide Interoperability for Microwave Access -এর সংক্ষিপ্ত রূপ হচ্ছে WiMax

এটি সাধারণত 2 থেকে 66 Ghz ফ্রিকোয়েন্সিতে কাজ করে এবং 80 Mbps থেকে 1Gbps পর্যন্ত গতিতে ডেটা ট্রান্সফার রেট প্রদানে সক্ষম।

WiMax এর প্রধান অংশ দুটি:

১। বেস স্টেশন, যেটি ইনডোর ডিভাইস এবং
আউটডোর টাওয়ার নিয়ে গঠিত। প্রতিটি বেস স্টেশনের কভারেজ এরিয়া 50 থেকে 80 km পর্যন্ত হয়ে থাকে।
২। অ্যান্টেনাযুক্ত WiMax রিসিভার, যা কম্পিউটারে সংযুক্ত করা হয় যেটি ওয়্যারলেস নির্ভর হওয়ায় পরিবহনযোগ্য।

এই প্রযুক্তিতে একটি একক বেস স্টেশনের মাধ্যমে বিশাল ভৌগোলিক এলাকায় হাজার হাজার ব্যবহারকারীকে ওয়্যারলেস ইন্টারনেট সুবিধা দেয়া যায়। ওয়্যারলেস হওয়ায় পোর্টেবলিটির সুবিধা পাওয়া যায় এবং এর রিসিভার সহজে বহনযোগ্য। বিভিন্ন ধরনের ডিভাইসের মাধ্যমে শহর এবং গ্রামে পোর্টেবল ব্রডব্যান্ড সংযোগ প্রদান করে।
